Another Great Year at the Plastic Recycling Conference

Our sincerest gratitude to everyone who came to this year’s Plastics Recycling Conference (PRC) in Washington DC! Some of the highlights were teaming up with PureCycle to offer their PureZeroTM recycling program,  discussing our partnership with Sigma Stretch Film, and showcasing an art exhibit from the Tennessee Aquarium that represents iSustain’s philanthropic commitment to understanding microplastics.

We are proud to have the knowledge, experience, and solutions to help companies solve difficult recycling issues. iSustain recycles millions of pounds of plastic across the United States each year. It is not only our business, it is something we passionately believe in.

Let’s talk trash!

The real star of our time at the Plastics Trade Show? Our good friend Trashy the Trout! Again, our sincerest gratitude to everyone who came out, and a huge thank you to the Tennessee Aquarium for helping us make this new friend.

Our collaboration with the Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute strives to keep plastics and microplastics out of streams, rivers, and oceans. The Tennessee Aquarium’s mission to connect people with nature and empower them to make informed decisions about water and wildlife aligns with iSustain’s mission to support programs that protect the environment and preserve natural resources.

#TrashyTheTrout is a three-dimensional sculpture of a rainbow trout is made from trash collected from around the #TennesseeRiver. It’s a work of art and a real eye-opener to how much trash we leave behind and how much is fully recyclable.

When we found out that the Tennessee Aquarium was leading the charge among Zoos and Aquariums across the US in researching microplastics in our local waterways we knew we had to find a way to be involved any way we could.   At the end of 2019, iSustain solidified a long-term partnership with the Aquarium through a commitment to provide ongoing financial support for the research of Microplastics. This research specifically targets determining methods for quantifying the number of Microplastics in our waterways, their effects on those waterways, and ways to reduce their presence exponentially. Working together we can help to reverse Microplastics’ effect on streams, rivers, and subsequently oceans around the world.

There is a problem, iSustain has solutions.

It’s hard to not be completely overwhelmed by the amount of plastic pollution strangling our waters. We’ve all felt like we can’t make a difference or an impact. But we can, and at iSustain we have. We have recycled millions of pounds of plastic, paper, fiber, metal, and more
