A “First of Its Kind” Sustainability Endowment

Haslam College of Business The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

iSustain is proud to have established a groundbreaking $400,000 graduate fellowship endowment at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As part of this "first of its kind" initiative, iSustain has committed $200,000 to the university, which will be generously matched through a program within the Haslam College of Business. The resulting $400,000 endowment will provide significant financial support to graduate students at the college, as graduate students do not have access to federal or state educational aid.

The endowed account will earn interest, and a portion of it will be awarded annually to a deserving Haslam graduate student. This prestigious fellowship aims to nurture and empower students who are passionate about safeguarding and enhancing the natural environment, both in the business realm and in their personal lives. The anticipated annual scholarship amount is approximately $18,000.

Dr. Stephen Mangum, Dean of the Haslam College of Business, expressed his gratitude, stating, "The establishment of this endowment by iSustain will play a vital role in supporting countless generations of UT students as they pursue their professional and personal aspirations. This investment will ensure that future business leaders are not only well-prepared but also deeply committed to preserving our planet's precious resources."

Fostering Environmental Stewardship Through Education

Paul Clark, Senior Director of Development at the Haslam College of Business, highlights the significance of iSustain's pioneering act: “This will be the first scholarship, undergraduate or graduate, within the Haslam College of Business that gives preference for students who are passionate about, and engaged in, promoting sustainability. This is a truly groundbreaking investment. This fellowship could be the difference between a full-time graduate student working multiple jobs or being able to focus on their studies.”

Mark Huber, Vice President of Business Development at iSustain and a Class of 1997 Alumnus of the University of Tennessee, highlights the enduring impact of the endowment. "With this iSustain endowment, we aim to magnify our environmental footprint exponentially. Each year, scholarships funded through this endowment will assist students who are not only pursuing advanced business education but also display an unwavering love and passion for improving our planet. By supporting students and nurturing future business sustainability leaders, we create a lasting and transformative impact.”
